Photographic Grass Paper?

Grass is like photographic paper which becomes pigmented upon exposure to light. The more intense the light exposure, the more intensely pigmented the grass becomes. By exposing plots of seedling grass to light through a custom-made negative, Surrey, England-based Heather Ackroyd and Dan Harvey makes the grass grow in different shades, from yellow to green creating unique portraits out of them. After a couple of weeks, when the growing process is complete faces or landscapes starts appearing in the grass.” w/ photos

$25k Robo Fish

It’s a filthy job checking the sea for pollution, but someone’s got to do it. So imagine how much easier it would be to get it done by… a fish. The yellow lookalike is fitted with sensors to detect leakages from ships or undersea pipelines. And it can analyse a pollutant in seconds – a significant improvement on collecting samples and waiting weeks for a result. Using expertise from the universities of Essex and Strathclyde, the first of the 5ft ‘fish’ has been tested off northern Spain.” w/ photos

Giant Salamander As Big As A Dog

“Giant salamanders can grow to 5 feet in length and weigh up to 80 lbs. They face a barrier of dams in Japan, built to control flooding. Now it’s hoped a new system will help these giant amphibians get upstream past the dams to lay their eggs.” — NatGeo

Huggin’ Cat

“Ok. So, one day he was begging for treats and started rubbing my leg but I just ignored him. He wouldn’t give up though: he kept on rubbing against my leg. I then sat down and he started rubbing against my face. I immediately rewarded him. Then every time he begged for treat, I would make him rub against my face. He soon learned he needed to rub for a treat; I then stood up one day and in order for him to rub my face he needed to stand and hug me. Hope it works for everyone else too!” — mnmblink

6x Torque Corkscrew

This is the corkscrew that provides 6X more torque than typical wine openers to enable easy cork removal. Similar to an automobile’s automatic transmission, the corkscrew uses a planetary gear design: a central ‘sun’ gear spins three “planet” gears to enable extraction of the cork with minimal exertion from the user. Turning the handle clockwise quickly plunges the worm into the center of the cork and turning it counterclockwise extracts it with little effort, thanks to the 6:1 gear ratio and durable stainless steel gears. The steel worm extracts real or synthetic corks, the corkscrew’s housing is made of durable polycarbonate, and the rubber grips at the base enable a confident hold.” w/ photos

Top 6 Effective Ways To Lie On Your Resume

Relax, terrible liars, I’m here to help. And, after consulting with experts in deceit, who may have been overstating their expertise now that I think about it, I’ve compiled the following guide to help you lie on your resume. To better illustrate this advice, I’ve also included sections from the resume I recently used to reapply for my position here at Cracked, a slightly humiliating chore we have to do semi-annually around here. It’s part of a morale-boosting exercise.” w/ photos
