Loyal Friend To The Very End

Dogs are noted for their loyalty to their owners, but this one shows extreme dedication to one of his own kind. On the busy Dazhi road in China, where his companion has been knocked down by a car and vehicles zoom past, a dog risks his life to look after his stricken friend. With horns honking and despite the terrifying sights and sounds of the traffic, the golden-coloured dog stays put, standing guard to protect his fallen friend. Earlier this week the first dog was struck on the Dazhi road and died from his wounds. But thanks to the loyal help of the other dog, the first was picked up by a passer-by, who buried him. Once his job was done, having seen the man carefully pick up his dead mate, the unhurt dog bounded off to safety.” w/ photos

Personal Semi-Submarine

Billing itself as the world’s ‘first compact semi submarine’, the ‘ego’ craft by korean company raonhaje is built around a submergeable core, permitting the private enclosed underwater excursions of individuals, couples, and families. With a maximum speed of five knots, the boat is motored through podded propulsion, powered by 12 8-volt marine batteries. In addition to being more ecologically sustainable, the electric design also permits the craft to bypass restrictions on entry into protected marine environments. A single full battery charge is obtained in six to ten hours and provides a run time varying from about four hours at top speed to eight hours at consistent cruising speed.” w/ photos + video

Top 10 Most Controversial Oscar Winning Films

“The Oscars is the biggest night on the movie calendar. Winning an Oscar has always been the maximum achievement for actors, directors and studios in Hollywood. Some say just being nominated is enough, but we all know that’s bullsh*t. Everyone wants to go up to the podium, put their sweaty hands on that statue and thank their mother and God and their agent. Even if we don’t agree with the win, we feel winning that Oscar deserves maybe a second look at a picture or performance. Over the years there have been a string of wins that have raised some eyebrows and, for some, questioned the Academy itself. Here are the 10 most controversial Oscar winning films.” w/ photos + videos

Fox Found On 72nd Floor Of Skyscraper

A fox dubbed Romeo has been found living on the 72nd floor of Europe’s tallest skyscraper surviving off scraps of food left by construction workers. Romeo spent two weeks roaming free and surviving on scraps of food left by builders at the 921-ft Shard building at London Bridge, which is still under construction. The fox had managed to make his way to the top of the tower via the central stairwell. Romeo was caught by Southwark Council pest control officers and taken to Riverside Animal Centre in Wallington where the hungry explorer was given a thorough medical and a few good meals. He was then released back into the London Bridge area. Ted Burden, Riverside Animal Centre founder said: ‘We explained to him that if foxes were meant to be 72 storeys off the ground, they would have evolved wings. ‘We think he got the message and, as we released him back on to the streets of Bermondsey shortly after midnight on Sunday, he glanced at the Shard and then trotted off in the other direction,’ added Mr Burden.” w/ photos
