Giant Speed Limit

Frustrated resident Tim Backhouse took drastic action when it came to limiting the number of speeding vehicles in the village of Bow, Devon – painting a 15ft-high 30mph sign on the side of his house. The father of three was concerned about the high volume of cars speeding by his home, so after the council failed to take action the 47-year-old took matters into his own hands. Mr Backhouse spent four hours painting the 30mph sign using specialist ladders and red and white emulsion paint. The end result was a speed-limit sign that’s about as obvious as any we’ve ever seen. After constant rejections from highway officials, the painting of the sign cost Mr Backhouse a relatively paltry $133. ‘I know it might seem like a bit of a drastic measure but I’m sick and tired of motorists, lorries in particular, speeding through,’ he said.” w/ photo

Musical Wine Glasses

Wine and dine in perfect time! Get your next dinner party humming when you turn your sips into a symphony with these glasses-turned-musical-instruments. The etchings on the glasses are musical notations that correspond to the level of the liquid–when the user drinks to D for example, he or she may run a finger along the rim of the glass to create its lush, sonorous note. Or, for the more percussive partier, the same note will ring out with a gentle rap of his or her utensil on the side of the glass. From rounds of “Row, row, row your boat” to more ambitious orchestrations, you’re sure to strike a chord with the guests at your next soiree with this set of glasses that covers a full 12-note octave from A flat to G.” w/ photo

Pixie is a 10-year-old white Welsh pony mare, Cole’s prized possession. “I love her, she’s really dear to me,” she says. “I really want her back.” Pixie performed at a festival offering rides to children. She was put away in her stall about 9 p.m. The next morning, she was nowhere to be found.” w/ photo + video

Top 10 Doppelgangers In Film

“There’s always been an air of intrigue around how twins function as two parts of one split zygote. Some say they even possess psychic abilities and can sense when the other is in danger. Only a twin knows the truth in this for sure, but what we do know is that twins usually mean double the pleasure, double the fun at least where chewing gum and beer commercials depict. At any rate, no set of twins are alike; nor are they alike amongst themselves in spite of appearance or birthdays. Here are ten of the best doppelgängers to show up in film, and then show up again.” w/ photos
