Iron Crotch?

Yang says what improved his health was ‘iron crotch’ qigong, which he studied after meeting the practice’s founder, Tu Jin-sheng. Yang showed his friends the results of his daily practice. First, he uses a red cloth to tie several iron disks to his genitals to warm up. When he feels prepared, he steps onto two pedestals and crouches down to tie iron weights weighing 507lbs to his penis. He then stands up slowly, lifting the iron disks off the ground for 30 seconds. His friends have been, for lack of a better word, fascinated by his performance… Qigong is usually practiced to improve health, mediation, breathing and movement. The practice is closely tied to theories of self-cultivation in Chinese philosophy and comes in various forms and styles.” w/ photo

Pig Born Without Back Legs

A dedicated farmer has taught his prized pig, which was born without back legs, to walk upright on his front legs. Proud Ge Xinping, from Mengcheng in eastern China’s Anhui Province, says he thought the deformed piglet would die after he was born in July. However, after lots of time and devotion the pig has learnt how to walk on its forelegs and is now the talk of the town. ‘Villagers all love it as it walks like an upside down gymnast,’ Ge said. Elsewhere in China, pig breeders are not having such luck. More than 100 people in the Henan province have been sentenced for planning to contaminate pork with the drug, Clenbuterol, which makes the meat leaner but can have adverse affects on humans.” w/ photo

How To Make A Strawberry Jelly Cheesecake

“A very popular non-bake cheese cake in Singapore, this recipe has been blogged over and over again by food bloggers in Singapore. More well known as Strawberry Jelly Heart, this was possibly the brain child of a local home bakery who had first encapsulated a heart-shaped strawberry in jelly over cheese cake… This is an overall crowd pleaser, everyone loved it when I served them – the cheesecake is not overpowering while the digestive biscuit base is fragrant and buttery. The Jello?… brings back childhood memories.” w/ photos

Top 20 Great Archaic Words

“The English language is a magnificent body of words which has grown to its huge extent by absorbing words from all other languages it has encountered. Because of this absorbance of words, and the natural evolution of languages, we have lost from daily use many words as new ones take their place. Here are twenty words I feel are perfectly good for day to day use and deserve to be given an airing more often. If you don’t agree, be aware that I am willing to puzzle you.” w/ photos
