Piggyback Exoskeleton

“The Hybrid Assisted Limb (HAL) robo-suit was designed by Tsukuba University professor Yoshiyuki Sankai. It’s supposed to increase the wearer’s strength tenfold. A disabled man named Seiji Uchida will be carried up Mont Saint Michel by someone wearing the HAL robo-suit. Uchiba will be placed in the back of the suit in a pannier. It has always been his dream to climb this mountain in Normandy, France, and he hasn’t been able to do so due to his physical challenges. The robo-suit has been designed to bear a load of 176 lbs, so should be able to carry Uchiba without too much trouble.” w/ photos

‪The Panterragaffe‬‏

“Based on Theo Jansen’s Kinetic art, Panterragaffe is a pedal powered two person walking machine, a walking bicycle. The name has a few elements to it. It’s a play on pantograph, which is a mechanism for copying drawings, since it’s similar to the leg mechanism. Also; Pan — all or spanning. Terra — earth. Gaffe — an unintentional act causing embarrassment to it’s originator or just goofy-ness. A bit of goofy-ness for everybody. To most people the name doesn’t mean anything, therefore its meaning is flexible.” — rlpyvr

World’s Largest Naked Pillow Fight?

The latest nude photo installation by daring U.S. artist Spencer Tunick, has seen 800 volunteers shed their clothes in the name of art. The piece, entitled ‘Sleeping Beauties’ took place in the grounds of Gaasbeek’s Castle in Belgium, 6 miles south of the capital Brussels. Tunick specialises in nude outdoor photography, and has been taking pictures in unusual locations since he began in 1986, taking pictures of nudes outside Alleyn’s School in Dulwich, South London. He began documenting live nudes in public locations seriously in 1995, beginning in his native New York through video and photographs.” w/ photos

7-Foot Jenga Tower!‬‏

“A little non-illusion video… was having fun hanging with my family. We built a tower consisting of 500 wooden pieces. The tower was around 7 to 8 feet tall. We tied fishing line to my ipod touch and lowered down the tower. It bumped into the tower a couple of times on the way down causing the tower to sway but it held tough. We took pieces from the bottom so that the ipod could be removed then we destroyed the tower.” — brusspup

Steampunk Animal Trophy Heads

“Dead animal heads stuck on walls are not something we’d usually promote. That is unless they’re robo-animals, made from gadgets and other objects, to be found ‘running wild’ in any average household. Their metallic gaze reminds us that they’re no hunter’s trophies but creatures fully in control — and very much alive in a mechanical sense — resurrected as they are from the detritus of discarded household scrap. In their own beautiful, scary or just plain bizarre way, they remind us that anything is worth salvaging.” w/ photos
