Acrobat Walks Wire Between Hot Air Balloons

A Chinese high wire artist walked into the record books – by crossing a wire between two hot air balloons 100 feet off the ground. Saimaiti Aishan encountered some problems in crossing between the two balloons, sitting down halfway across when he had problems with his balancing pole. But he completed the 15 meter walk, in Xinning County, southern China’s Hunan Province, to achieve his fourth Guinness World Record. However, he failed in another record attempt – walking between the hot balloons at a height of 100 meters – due to strong winds. Motorcyclist Rides Head-First Into Manhole

A motorbike rider who took his eyes off the road found himself in a spot of bother after his two-wheeler ended up in an open manhole. Zhang Bo was busy dodging traffic in the hustle and bustle of Changchun in China’s northeast when his motorcycle suddenly disappeared head first into the sewer and he was thrown almost a metre over the handle bars. Driver Hui Shi, a witness traveling behind the motorcycle, said: ‘Car wheels were driving either side of the hole – but the motorbike was in the middle of the road and it just dropped into it. ‘He went head over heels and everyone laughed, despite the injuries.” w/ photo

Schoolboy Juggled Incendiary Bombs

The bomb squad was called in to blow up a pair of live Second World War bombs found on a farm by a teenage boy. When Ben Stannard, 13, found the incendiary bombs on farmland in Margaretting, he thought they were harmless and began to juggle them. But if he had dropped them, the sulphur would have caught fire and killed him instantly, bomb squad officers told him. “The police wouldn’t go near them,” said Ben, of Purcell Cole, Writtle. “They moved everyone away and waited five hours for the bomb squad to arrive for a controlled explosion. “I was in shock – I feel really lucky. “I’ve learnt my lesson and will always call the police in future.” Ben, a Hylands School pupil, wants to become a gamekeeper and was helping prepare for the shooting season at the farm, when he stumbled across the unearthed bombs. “I was waiting for my mum to pick me up and they caught my eye,” he said. “I thought they were strange, but just bits of concrete, so I started to throw them up and down. “Then I noticed the serial number on one of them. When my granddad died he left me a shell casing and it had similar numbers, so I grew concerned, put them down gently and told my mum when she arrived.” w/ photo

Forget booking a Rolls Royce limousine or a horse drawn carriage for your wedding ride – it’s now all about the forklift cavalcade. That’s what one couple in China opted for in a bid to celebrate their shared love for each other and the humble warehouse workhorse. Newlyweds Kong Qingyang and Shen Likun first met when when groom Kong was working as a forklift driver and bride Shen was working as a forklift salesperson. To commemorate their special connection they chose to commandeer a forklift parade in their home town of Xintai, Hebei Province. Starting at 8am the brightly decorated forklifts motored from the groom’s house and then broke with tradition to pick up the bride-to-be. Car Crushed Under Tons Of Instant Noodles

Noodles almost claimed the life of a cab driver when a truck packed to the brim with the delicious snack rolled as it attempted to turn an intersection. Shocked driver Lin Hu was counting his lucky stars when he escaped without a scratch, but his pride and joy – a yellow and green taxi – felt the full force of the delivery truck when it lost control and tipped over on the car. As the truck careered around the corner toward him, Lin said he was powerless to do anything but sit and wait for the impact. ‘It was swaying from side to side and could hardly steer. Man Stole Blind Woman’s Parrot

A DeLeon Springs man forced his way into a blind woman’s home, pushed her to the ground and stole a pet bird he had traded to her, deputies said. According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, Mark Bausch regretting trading his pet sun conure to the 64-year-old woman and her 81-year-old mother in exchange for $50 and a computer. Bausch went to the women’s home on Ponce DeLeon Boulevard on Thursday afternoon and demanded the bird back, saying he missed his pet and the computer ran too slow, deputies said. When they refused Bausch’s request, he forced his way into the home, shoved the blind woman to the ground and went into her bedroom, where he shoved her again, took the bird and fled in his truck, deputies said. “The toddlers crawled across a 10-foot long mat as excited adults coached from the sidelines. Some of the parent’s strategies included stuffed animals, food and toys. The winning baby, Trent Miele, was coaxed across the finish line with a baseball. Mary, Mother of Winning Toddler: “He’s very interested in baseball so anything to do with them, he’ll go for them, run for them across the room.” Nine-month-old Trent started crawling when he was just 6 and a half months old. Woman Gets Fingers Caught In Paper Shredder

The woman was cleaning a paper shredder at the rural credit cooperative where she worked in east China’s Zhejiang province when her right middle finger and ring finger became caught in the machine. Cops Get Skates On To Catch Crooks

A squad of roller-blading policewomen has been launched to chase down villains at 25mph in a Chinese city. The eight officers patrol Chengdu’s prestigious Tianfu Square, a magnet for pickpockets and drunks who prey on tourists. And when they’re not patrolling on skates, the squad has been issued with 3inch high heels “to make them elegant but with authority”, say officials. Recruit Chen Fengyu, 19, said: “I like watching the policewomen in the Hong Kong TV series very much. “So when I saw the advertisement for roller skate police, I had to have a try.
