World’s Safest Electric Vehicle?

The iSAVE-SC1 vehicle has been dubbed as the ‘safest electric vehicle in the world’ by Humanix, the company responsible for developing it alongside Hiroshima University. It diverges from how cars are usually made, since the airbags are usually hidden in the wheel or dashboard of vehicles, and not ‘worn’ all over on the car’s exterior. Another thing that makes the iSAVE-SC1 different from most cars is that it only has three wheels instead of the usual four.” w/ photo + video

Japan’s Ear-Cleaning Parlors

Ever since Japan authorities decided to deregulate ear-cleaning as a medical profession, making it available without a medical license, hundreds of salons offering the service started popping up all over the country. The vast majority of clients are men looking to relax their minds after a stressful day, and travel back to the days when they used to rest their heads on their mothers’ laps for the occasional ear cleaning session. Three out of four clients claim it’s so relaxing they actually fall asleep while the kimono-wearing cleaners excavate the wax out of their ears.” w/ photo + video

Radioactive Used Cars Being Sold In Japan?

Cars that were contaminated by radiation during the March nuclear meltdown in Japan are finding their way into the reeling nation’s used car market. Vehicles from the area around the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant, which suffered a series of meltdowns after the earthquake and tsunami of March 11, were supposed to be destroyed. But unscrupulous dealers have registered them under new license plates and sold them, The Asahi Shimbun newspaper reported. Unable to export the cars, they’re selling them in Japan. Dealers have traditionally bought used vehicles in Japan and exported them to Russia and Southeast Asia, according to the Telegraph. In June, Russian police turned back a half-dozen used cars from Japan after finding they were contaminated with radioactove isotopes, according to the Interfax news agency. Authorities in South America, Australia and the U.S. have also stepped up inspection of new and used cars coming in from Japan.” w/ photo

Company Creates Ultra-Realistic Face Replicas

Now this is a gap in the market no one had seen before. Plucky Japanese start-up Real-f offers you the chance to ‘see yourself’ as never before. For $3,920 – the company takes digital stills of your face, then moulds them over a 3D model to create a hard vinyl chloride ‘face’. The resulting model is called a 3DPF – 3 Dimensional Photo Form. If a face isn’t quite enough, then you can opt for a full head and shoulders. The company describes its process as a ‘human photocopier’. Oddly, it’s not the first start-up to offer human face masks featuring your own face – but it’s by far the most realistic. Real-f claims you can discern individual bloodvessels and irises in the models. ‘We have progressed from monochrome to color, now is the era of the 3D stereoscopic effect.” w/ photos
