Baby Pig Born With Two Noses

Meet Babe, the pig who was born with not one but two snouts. And while it might sound like a joke, it’s no laughing matter. The two-month-old – part of a litter born on a farm in Deshengtang, Jilin province, northern China – can use both his mouths to eat and appears otherwise normal, say his owners. Farmer Li Zhenjun and his wife Yu Wanfen named the piglet Xiaobao – or ‘Babe’ in English – after the movie about an extraordinary talking pig.” w/ photos

Tree Frog Pull-Ups

This frog is adamant he won’t croak it – as he attempts to do some pull-ups. The bizarre moment was spotted by German snapper Heinz Buls as he photographed Tree frogs during the spawning season. The frog leapt out of the algae covered water to grab hold of the branch perched just above the water line – before hanging there for a few moments. But the creature couldn’t even manage one as he gave up and flopped back into the water. The stunning shot was captured as Heinz sat on the banks of a river flowing through Illertal, in Bayern, Germany.” w/ photos

Lingerie Made From Recycled Soda Cans

This lingerie may not be too comfortable, but would certainly give you support. Artist Ingrid Goldbloom Bloch has created this stunning range of underwear made out of recycled soda cans. The incredible creations include a bustier, garter and panties. Each piece took around two days to complete. The artist from Needham, Massachusetts, was inspired while walking along the beach when she got the idea to collect pieces of trash and weave them together. She used gutter guards, rivets, washers and washing machine hose clamps to finish them off. The collections is appropriately called Trashy Lingerie.” w/ photos

Hippo Gets Dental Work

This massive hippopotamus needed an urgent trip to the dentist after a problem with his teeth made him very hungry hungry indeed. Tomy, 39, a favorite with his keepers at the Bayamon Zoo in Puerto Rico, was suffering from a painful malocclusion which prevented his lower teeth from wearing properly. His condition had got so bad it was putting him off his food and his weight had plummeted to just 3000lbs, which for a hippo is dangerously low. So chief veterinarian at North Carolina Zoo, Dr. Mike Loomis, went over to give Tomy a badly needed dental procedure. Mike, along with veterinarians and keepers at the Parque de las Sciencias museums in Bayamon, have been treating the normally happy hippo for two decades and has made numerous trips to trim the animal’s overgrown gnashers.” w/ photos

Coffee Prepared At 20,000ft

A team from Lithuania have set a new world record by preparing a cup of coffee in a air balloon flying at more than 20,000 feet high. Nidas Kiuberis, Grazvydas Vilcinskas and Vytautas Samarinas had to don protective clothing and oxygen masks before reaching the impressive height. Once there – with a temperature of around -20C – they used a special Aeropress coffee maker to push hot water through the filter and produce a quality cup of coffee. Coffee expert Kiuberis then took off his oxygen mask and quickly tasted it before putting the mask back on. He said the brew was “as tasty as on earth” not better “as tasty” — so worth flying to 20,000ft then?” w/ photos

Mr. Twenty-Four

They call him ‘Twenty-Four.’ Yoandri Hernandez Garrido’s nickname comes from the six perfectly formed fingers on each of his hands and the six impeccable toes on each foot. Hernandez is proud of his extra digits and calls them a blessing, saying they set him apart and enable him to make a living by scrambling up palm trees to cut coconuts and posing for photographs in this eastern Cuban city popular with tourists. One traveller paid $10 for a picture with him, Hernandez said, a bonanza in a country with an average salary of just $20 a month. ‘It’s thanks to my 24 digits that I’m able to make a living, because I have no fixed job,’ Hernandez said.” w/ photos
