“Here’s a painting of NBA superstar Yao Ming I did, with some red paint and a basketball! I guess all those years of basketball training in high school did come in handy!” — ohisee
Packaging Tape Art

“Artist Max Zorn creates street art consisting mainly of portraits. His only tools are rolls of packing tape and a scalpel, but the results are astounding. The translucent portraits are hung over street lamps for the final effect, with multiple shades created through layers of tape strips. What is really impressive is that Zorn essentially works with just a single colored tape, creating several shades as he goes along. The sepia-toned art pieces have an incredible detailing, and are a delight to look at.” w/ photos
Wood Carved Paintings

“For our artist of the day we chose to showcase Russian veteran wood-carver Kronid Gogolev, a man’s whose intricate wooden paintings are nothing short of awe-inspiring. Using simple tools, he is able to turn rough pieces of wood into masterpiece depicting the way of life and the traditions of the Russian northern village, capturing its original beauty. Each of his creations has its own unique features and characteristics, but they all manage to capture the attention of the viewer, transporting him to the real-life picturesque settings of the north.” w/ photos

Pakistani Truck Art

“Whatever the design, the drivers seem to be in love with their vehicles. The truck-painting practice is said to have been started as a way for drivers to take a reminder of their homes along with them, wherever they went. Today, they say that they decorate their trucks because they love it that way. They participate actively in the decking up process, and hence feel a sense of attachment with their trucks. The art is so popular that some cars and taxis have also been spotted adorned with the paintings.” w/ photos
The Ani-Humans

“Covered from head-to-toe in body paint, these brave models blend in perfectly alongside a succession of wild animals. After seven-hours in make-up over four days, they look completely at home whether tangling with a 12ft-long python, staring down cheetahs, or riding on the back of an elephant. The bizarre images were taken by wildlife photographer Lennette Newell and form part of her ‘Ani-Human’ series of portraits… A great amount of care was taken to ensure that the animals were treated humanely during the shoot. Ms Newell said: ‘Each of the animals came with their trainers and every second they were observed and watched whenever the models came in contact with the animals.” w/ photos
Two Giant Kissing Dinosaurs

“It’s a wonder prehistoric creatures died out given the antics of these two huge amorous dinosaurs. Concrete statues of the frisky kissing sauropods are part of a Jurassic fossil hotspot – but the Dinosaurs Fairyland theme park is in such a remote part of China that it rarely sees any tourists. It is 20 miles outside the Chinese town of Erlian on the Outer Mongolian border… Erlian has a population of 20,000, but the only people likely to bother any tourists are the occasional men in military uniform that use the park as a thoroughfare to the bus station.” w/ photos
