Chocolate Covered Deep Fried Triple Double Oreos

The Triple Double Oreos are pretty good on their own straight out of the package, but you can read all about them on plenty of other websites. With this blog post I wanted to give you guys something a little bit different by taking these new cookies to the next level… I started off by heating up some semi-sweet chocolate chips in a bowl in my microwave. Once all the chocolate chips were melted I started dipping the Oreo cookies one by one into the chocolate and laying them on a piece of wax paper, before chilling them in my refrigerator overnight… I’ll have to admit that prior to trying these I was a little worried that covering them in chocolate AND deep frying them might be overdoing it a little bit, but they turned out amazing. If I don’t see chocolate covered deep fried Triple Double Oreos being sold at state fairs all across the country next summer I’m seriously going to be disappointed.” w/ photos

Big Stupid S’More!

“Epic Meal Time went camping in a really serious non-camping way! We hit the backyard and made a big ol’ stupid s’more that breaks the 70,000 calorie barrier. And we got drunk.”

World’s Largest Naan Bread

The world’s largest naan bread has been created in China by a local guru after officials had to build a giant chopping board and 19ft wide oven to make it possible. In a time of economic hardship some people may not be too keen on their government spending money on creating a huge naan bread. However, that didn’t concern civil servants in Qiemo County, Xinjiang Autonomous Region, China, who decided to use taxpayer’s money to build a huge chopping board that was used to create the bread. The naan, which was baked in a specially built oven, was 9ft in diameter and contained meat dumplings. The super naan was made with 30kg mutton, 275lbs. flour, 35lbs. onion and 198lbs. water. Naan guru Memeti was aided by his four apprentices and 12 local workers and it took ten hours to finish.” w/ photo

World’s Longest Bratwurst

“Proceeds from the sale of the brat at the German restaurant’s 26th annual Octoberfest celebration were donated to Mercy Home for Boys and Girls. Father Scott Donahue was on hand to measure the brat, which came in at 47 feet and three inches. The brat weighed in at 40 pounds and was made from a pork and beef mix seasoned with salt, black pepper, whole marjoram, sugar and paprika. The pig that provided the casing was named Chic. The 50-foot long bun required 35 pounds of dough and was transported in a trailer from Highland Bakery. A backup bun was also provided. The record must still be certified by Guinness officials.” w/ photos

Lobster Ice Cream

Okay so it’s not technically foreign, but the Lobster Ice Cream at Las Vegas’ new Lobster ME food kiosk in the Miracle Mile mall is totally worth a feature on its own. For one, it’s totally Vegas in that it’s something so weird, so novelty, so foreign to Vegas that’s cool by default. In fact, perhaps the only people in the country who wouldn’t turn their nose up at the stuff would be visitors to Vegas, open to wild and crazy new experiences and with coin to drop on expensive ice cream.” w/ photos

Star Trek Sugar Cookies

What is a lonely girl geek to do on the 45th anniversary of one of her all time favorite shows? Make cute cookies that everyone else will love, so that they’ll tolerate the Star Trek marathon that’s ’bout to play on Netflix Watch Instantly all day long. That’s what… Seriously, I’m so thrilled with these little boogers. I don’t want to eat them. I want to make a movie with them. A super cute, awesomely geeky, and totally campy cookie version of Star Trek. I even made some extra redshirts that can die by violent devouring.” w/ photos

Chocolate Covered Strawberry Shot Glasses

“My friend Marissa and I dreamt these up as a fun snack/drink to serve at her New Year’s Eve party. They’re as simple as they look — hulled out strawberries dipped in melted chocolate and filled with whatever you’d like. We combined vanilla vodka, Godiva liquor, and some chocolate syrup for a delicious shot in an edible glass. Take your shot and eat it too!” w/ photos
