Star Trek Sugar Cookies

What is a lonely girl geek to do on the 45th anniversary of one of her all time favorite shows? Make cute cookies that everyone else will love, so that they’ll tolerate the Star Trek marathon that’s ’bout to play on Netflix Watch Instantly all day long. That’s what… Seriously, I’m so thrilled with these little boogers. I don’t want to eat them. I want to make a movie with them. A super cute, awesomely geeky, and totally campy cookie version of Star Trek. I even made some extra redshirts that can die by violent devouring.” w/ photos

Fried Cereal?

“Fried cereal is a toasted sweet crunchy buttery snack treat — the latest original taste treat sensation from the Charles Phoenix Test Kitchen.”

Chocolate Covered Strawberry Shot Glasses

“My friend Marissa and I dreamt these up as a fun snack/drink to serve at her New Year’s Eve party. They’re as simple as they look — hulled out strawberries dipped in melted chocolate and filled with whatever you’d like. We combined vanilla vodka, Godiva liquor, and some chocolate syrup for a delicious shot in an edible glass. Take your shot and eat it too!” w/ photos

Grilled Cheese Curd Sandwich

“I started my grilled cheese off the same way you’d begin with any grilled cheese, by buttering two pieces of bread. Instead of just putting one or two pieces of cheese in between the two slices of bread though I added a layer of orange sharp Cheddar deli cheese and topped that with a layer of white Cheddar cheese curds before adding even more sharp Cheddar cheese to the top of the sandwich. As the cheese started to melt, the orange Cheddar cheese started filling in all the gaps between the cheese curds creating the perfect blend of cheese.” w/ photos

Deep Fried Lean Pockets

“Now don’t get me wrong, I love Lean Pockets, but it seems like even if I eat the two of them that come together in a box I still end up hungry afterwards. This time I decided to try something a little different than just tossing them in the microwave for two minutes though; I decided to deep fry them! I started off by mixing up some of the same beer batter that I used with the deep fried fruits and vegetables. After that I plugged in my deep fryer, waited until the oil was boiling, coated the Lean Pockets in beer batter and tossed them in! After cooking for about seven or eight minutes my Lean Pockets were a delicious looking golden brown so I took them out of the deep fryer, let them cool for a couple minutes and then started eating… As I finished eating them a strange feeling came over me that I almost never feel while eating Lean Pockets… a feeling of fullness. That’s right, I was actually full!” w/ photos

World’s Largest Pig In A Blanket

“Once I got the giant sausage home I got to work. I’d never had a pig in a blanket wrapped in bacon before, and seeing as how bacon makes everything better that was my first step. After that I wrapped it in Cheddar cheese and crescent roll dough and tossed it in the oven. I actually didn’t even have any bakeware big enough for this monster, so it ended up hanging over the edge of the baking sheet even when I placed it on there diagonally. To get a sense of just how big my pig in a blanket was I also made a regular one using a cocktail frank. As soon as my dinner was done cooking I immediately dug in. It was even better than I remembered! Then again, that could also be due to the bacon addition and the delicious Hungarian sausage from Bunzel’s. Oh yeah, I’d also like to point out that I have no idea whether or not this is actually the world’s largest pig in a blanket. I did a Google search and couldn’t find any that were larger than this, so until someone points me in the direction of a bigger one I’m going to continue to claim the title as mine.” w/ photos

Scrambled Egg & Waffle Breakfast Pizza

“I started off by cooking a Belgian waffle in my waffle maker, whipping up some scrambled eggs and some Hollandaise sauce on my stove and cooking some bacon and some maple syrup flavored breakfast sausages. Once everything was done I poured the Hollandaise sauce over my Belgian waffle and topped it with shredded mozzarella and Cheddar cheese, the scrabbled eggs, sausage and bacon chunks and some chopped up red and green peppers. Since everything was already pre-cooked I didn’t want to risk burning anything (especially the waffle) by putting it into the oven for too long, but I definitely wanted to get the cheese nice and gooey. I only ended up cooking it for seven minutes at 350 degrees, but that turned out to be the perfect amount of time as the breakfast pizza turned out amazing. Seriously, and I don’t mean to be narcissistic here, but for being a terrible cook I sometimes amaze myself with how good some of my random creations are.” w/ photos

Pancake Egg Burger

“In a way the Pancake Egg Burger is actually a healthier alternative to my Pancake Burrito Burger. Whereas I used hamburger patties in mine John’s instead uses turkey sausage. While my version used regular McDonald’s pancakes as the bun, the Pancake Egg Burger uses wheat pancakes in their place. You get the idea… Let’s forget about the differences for a second though. Do you know what the two sandwiches have in common? They were both delicious, but more importantly I was able to eat both of them for lunch instead of breakfast.” w/ photos
