Pebble Art Portraits

She is the artist who leaves no stone unturned in her pursuit of pebbly pictures. Svetlana Ivanchenko transforms sand, shells and miniscule fragments of rock from the beach into intricate portraits and vivid scenes. It takes her eight hours to sift through and sort just 50g (1.7oz) of material – and her all-natural palate is dominated by greys and browns. But in 12 years she has managed to create 80 works, with varied subjects including a lion emerging from undergrowth and a sleeping cherub.” w/ photos
