Dog Portrait (Speed Painting)

“A commissioned portrait of Jake the Gordon Setter, painted in pastel pencils on sanded paper (Fisher 400). I wish I could really work this fast, but in reality it took about 20 hours. The painting measures about 18×16″. To answer the FAQs that I usually get: I don’t use water or any fluids. The background is in soft pastel sticks, the ‘brush’ looking thing I use on it at the start is a silicon ‘color shaper’ tool: it blends the colors. The dog is done entirely with pastel pencils.” — Mary Herbert
