“Over the past few years, Shane Butcher built his American Dream. A waterfront home on Tampa Bay, three cars, a rental condo, a couple of kayaks, a ton of video games and a successful gaming business with three stores. Also a TV, a Thomas Kinkade painting, two Blu-Ray players, a hammock, kitchen appliances, and whole lot of other stuff. Now he’s putting it all up for sale. Asking price – $3.5 million. “There was no reason for me not to,” he says. It might sound like strange logic for someone selling literally everything he owns in the world. Still, there’s a curious harmony to the way Butcher talks about it. People always call things like a business, a house, or a car ‘investments,’ but the assumption is that the best way to get the most of that investment is to die with it. Butcher is looking for a return a little bit earlier, and rather than sell it off piecemeal, he figures that somebody else might want the same package he assembled for himself.” w/ photos
