Two-Headed Cardinal

For most of us, having a small bird making a racket in the garden is nothing new. But when April Britt heard a commotion in her backyard, she decided to investigate. And what she found left her completely taken aback. Perched on a branch was a baby female Cardinal with two heads and three beaks. Speaking to ABC40, Mrs Britt, from Northampton, Massachusetts, said: ‘My husband says ‘Oh my God. Look at this poor thing! That’s an oddity if I ever saw one… The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) said the chances of the bird surviving are ‘very slim’. After viewing these pictures, Valerie Osborne, from the charity, said: ‘It is very, very rare to find a bird like this. I have seen only one other similar case to this in the past 30 years.” w/ photos

World’s Tightest Parallel Parking

“One of our most popular world records over recent years has been the hotly contested tightest parallel parking title. The record has changed hands five times in the past two years, with our video of German driving ace Ronny Wechselberger’s successful attempt last year becoming something of an internet sensation with viewing figures hitting the millions. When Patrik Folco neatly slid his way into a gap measuring just 8.66 inches longer than the car he was driving last month it set a benchmark that looked unlikely to be broken. However, the record has indeed once again been smashed, this time by Chinese master wheelman Han Yue. Han last week managed to shave off an incredible 3.5 inches from the record, drifting into a space of just 5.91 inches longer than his vehicle during an attempt at the launch in Beijing of a new special edition of the Mini called The Chinese Job.” — guinnessworldrecords

Five Wives Vodka Offends Mormons

Five Wives Vodka was declared to be bad taste for offending Mormons, and will not be stocked or special ordered at stores operated by the state of Idaho, regulators said. It is made by Ogden’s Own Distillery in Utah, where the Mormon church is based. Its label carries the name and an image of five women, an apparent reference to polygamy, a practice abandoned by the church more than a century ago. Idaho State Liquor Division administrator Jeff Anderson said the brand is offensive to Mormons who make up over a quarter of Idaho’s population. Regulators in Idaho notified Elite Spirits Distributor that the brand’s concept is ‘offensive to a prominent segment of our population and will not be carried… ‘The bottom line is, we represent everybody,’ Anderson added. ‘It’s masterful marketing on their part. But it doesn’t play here.” w/ photo

Floating Rope Swing

This is the 13 1/2′-high rope swing that provides open-water launches into a lake or pond. Suspending from its own floating platform, it is safer than traditional tree or dock swings, enabling swingers to let go at any point during a launch for entry into the water. Made from 28 oz. marine-grade, reinforced PVC, the horseshoe-shaped floating platform provides stability for swingers up to 250 lbs. The galvanized steel swing frame is padded at the bottoms. The entire inflatable structure is treated to block damaging UV rays and resists mold and mildew. Six heavy-duty foam-filled handles assist climbers as they climb the structure’s 6 1/2′ L x 8 1/2′ W boarding dock and one-person access ramp. The knotted, braided rope and padded foam seat provide a firm grip for a full swing. The structure requires at least 10′ of water depth for anchoring using the frame’s three anchor points. Assembles and inflates in 45 minutes using an electric pump.” w/ photos
