Live Fish Removed From Boy’s Lung

Doctors in India have operated to remove a live fish from the lung of a 12-year-old boy. Anil Barela swallowed the 9cm fish while playing on a riverside with friends in the Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh state. The Times of India says boys commonly swallow live fish – but this one went down the wrong way and entered the boy’s left lung. Anil soon started feeling short of breath and was x-rayed after the oxygen levels in his blood dropped alarmingly. Doctors decided on immediate surgery and removed the fish in a 45 minute operation.” w/ photo

Little Slide Dress

The Little Slide Dress is a modern take on the classic Little Black Dress. It uses modern technology and blends it with a 100-year-old medium, film. The Dress draws inspiration from classic movies and the ‘magic of film’ to create a wearable piece of technology and art. With film light is so important in the creation and viewing of images and this was one of the driving forces behind the dress’s creation. With film only see what really going on once the lights go out. For this to work there needs to be a balance of projected and ambient light something the Little Slide Dress tries to emulate.” w/ photos

Concrete Coaster

Concrete is cool. Coasters are just good manners. Combining the two is obvious, but this particular coaster goes one step further because the cement has enough non-toxic recycled ash in it to make the coaster water absorbent. Most coasters prevent your cold one from leaving a ring (that’s kind of the point), but this one will actually help counteract the fallout from overzealous pours and accidental cup jostles. It’s also happens to be heavy enough that it won’t stick to your glass. This isn’t rocket science, but it’s pretty close.” w/ photos
