Greenhouse Restaurant

De Kas is a large restaurant and nursery located in a former greenhouse on the outskirts of Amsterdam. Back in 1926 the greenhouse was built to house Amsterdam’s municipal nurseries. All of the plants and flowers used for Amsterdam’s municipal plantings were grown on these grounds and in greenhouse. Over the decades, the nurseries were shut down and the buildings and greenhouse became dilapidated. About 10 years ago the greenhouse was scheduled for demolition, but chef Gert Jan Hageman saw the building and decided it would be perfect for a restaurant and vegetable garden. Hageman approached the city with the proposal and ended up buying it for just 1 Euro, which he renovated it completely into the restaurant it is today.” w/ photos

How To Make Pizza Dip

I decided to take the easy way out and make this dip. It’s pizza my way, plus I’m a sucker for appetizers. I’m in heaven when I’m presented with dips and bite-sized foods! This is a great appetizer when you’ve got company coming over and you want to whip up something quick. You probably have all of the ingredients in your kitchen already and it takes 5 minutes to prepare and 20 minutes to bake!” w/ photos

“The Internet wasn’t just designed by one person or one team at one time. As more and more people peeled back the frontiers of information technology, they contributed to the understanding and development of what we all now take for granted. The Internet is here to stay, but there were times when it was a fragile thing that only a few people could envision. The following people are visionaries, inventors, researchers and programmers who, in the early days of the internet, dreamed big and pioneered the technologies and programs behind all the standard Internet operating tools of today.” w/ photos
