How To Make Maple Syrup Kielbasa Waffles

“I do love the play with sweet and savory in a lot of dishes though and when I saw the concept for a waffle topped with crispy kielbasa my inner meatitarian did cartwheels. Finally a breakfast just for me! I’ll warn you, this recipe is not for the feint of heart. The syrup slathering everything is very very sweet but the crunchy pan fried kielbasa evens it all out. And then there’s the waffle, that signature delicious waffle dripping in buttery goodness. This meal is a gift from the heavens.” w/ photos
Kid’s Coloring Books Used To Smuggle Drugs

“Disney-character coloring books arriving at the Cape May County Correctional Center and addressed ‘To Daddy’ in a child’s handwriting were saturated with a narcotic drug as part of a smuggling operation, authorities said. Two inmates at the correctional center, a state prison inmate and two others were charged with distribution of a controlled substance after they allegedly turned Suboxone, a prescription drug designed to treat opioid addiction, into a paste. The paste was then painted onto children’s pictures and sent through inmate mail, Cape May County Sheriff Gary Schaffer said Monday. “In my 38 years of law enforcement, I’ve never seen anything like this,” Schaffer said. The sheriff said he has alerted other jail wardens and county sheriffs about the operation in case it is tried again. The arrests were the result of a two-month investigation that began when Corrections Officer Richard Harron Jr. developed a source who alerted him to the smuggling. As a result, corrections officers began watching the mail for the contraband, Shaffer said.” w/ photos
How To Make White Chocolate Sandwich Cake

“Having seen the Cakewich on a few blogs, I got myself a Cakewich pan and debated whether I wanted a savoury looking sandwich cake (with green lettuce, yellow mustard, red patty) or a sweet looking sandwich cake with a filling of jam and cream. The jam and cream won because it was simpler and I was pressed for time. I adapted a recipe for a White Chocolate Cake from Donna Hay’s Modern Classics Book 2, whipped up some buttercream and bought some great quality strawberry conserve. I baked the cake on the eve of the party and put it in the fridge. On the day of the party an hour before guests were to arrive, I sliced the top of the cake to give it that unique sandwich look. I then sliced the cake in half and slathered on a layer of buttercream and topped it up with the strawberry jam. I carefully arranged the top half of the cake over the filling and voila, I had a great looking giant sandwich for my son’s birthday cake. Easiest birthday cake ever!” w/ photos
